A cast vintage coin from the Bahamas in the 1960s. The pineapple is a symbol of hospitality in the Bahamas and elsewhere. The symbol has its roots in a tradition of sea captains. When captains returned from sea, a pineapple was placed on their gatepost to announce their return home.  Pineapples represent warm welcomes, celebration and hospitality and symbolize friendship.
